During the Christian Fellowship League Sabbath at City Temple Church, the day buzzed with activity. Carmela Monk-Crawford, (Editor-in-Chief for Message Magazine) along with Elder Edward Woods, III (LRC PARL) Pastors Earl Baldwin and James Doggette, Jr. (LRC Youth and Young Adult Ministries) joined together to sponsor a spirit-filled day. From the dynamic Sabbath School lesson led by Pastor Stephen Ruff, to worship services that were elevated by the music of the Chandler Park Academy Choir, Burns Music Ministry, and gospel artists Benita Jones and the Fletcher Chorale. Message Magazine subscriptions were received and the Detroit community joined together to support the youth.
One of the special highlights happened at the end of the divine worship service, after the benediction had been given. One young man, who responded to the appeal, given by Pastor James Doggette, Jr. decided to give his life to Christ. What made this moment unique was that a baptism was not planned but prayed for. By faith, Neville Lendor, Pastor of City Temple, called for the pool to be filled, not knowing who would get into the pool but believing that God would do something big that day. And that’s exactly what happened. With close family and friends present and the support of the Youth and Young Adult Directors, Khari Williams surrendered his life to Christ. You never know what will happen when you fill a pool by faith.
